What grades are included?

Can I use a school purchase order?
Yes, we do this all the time. Click here for a little PO pack you might find helpful. There’s a form inside you can fill out and submit to your school. We’ve included “what to say, who to ask, what to do” to entice your school to actually cover this for you…Even if you’ve been told “no” before!
How long are the lessons designed to take?
Lessons are designed for a typical class period, about 45-60 minutes, with pieces you can adjust, stretch, shorten, or rearrange based on your schedule and students. You also have extension / organization options for those with longer 80-90 minute classes, too!
What does a typical day’s lesson from one of the units include?
A typical lesson includes a bell ringer or warm-up, quick interactive mini-lesson, student practice, group or independent work, an exit ticket, quiz, answer key, or teacher guidance. Some lessons vary, but the goal is always to give you a clear, organized teaching path that you and your students can rely on each day.
What if I am not confident teaching grammar, writing, or struggling readers?
Right?!! They didn’t teach us that stuff in “I want to be a teacher” college, did they🙃 That’s one of the biggest reasons The Lesson Plan Lounge exists. You get the lesson structure, teacher guidance, mini-lessons, student pages, and support pieces so you can actually (yes, really!) teach with total confidence… Even if you’re secretly learning everything in the moment right alongside your students.
Do I need a textbook?
No. The resources include reading passages, linked texts, original materials, and teacher-ready directions so you’re not stuck relying on an outdated textbook or hunting for the perfect article at the last minute.
Are there answer keys?
You know it! Quizzes, unit tests, and assessments include answer keys. Daily activities include suggested or possible responses so you’re ready to guide discussion and student thinking.
Are the lessons aligned to standards?
The lessons are built around the core skills Middle School ELA teachers in the U.S. need to teach and are aligned with major standards such as CCSS and Texas TEKS. Even teachers who don’t use those standards STILL use and love the resources because the skills themselves are so comprehensive and practical.
What if I only teach reading?
Some teachers are members right now who teach in schools where they split reading and writing into two separate classes (sometimes with different teachers). What they do is they “downplay” the writing side of things and \ spend more time on the reading side. For instance, a “reading only” teacher can omit the more formal writing lessons and simply use the “regular” writing lessons as a means through which students process their learning rather than something they have to formally grade.
Do I get everything right away?
Yes. Well, except for the new things I’m in the process of creating or haven’t created yet, lol. New resources are added regularly into the Lesson Plan Lounge. That’s how it keeps growing! But access isn’t “slow-dripped” or anything like that. Nothing is awkwardly trapped behind “credits” that you have to trade in just to get something you need. We don’t have time for that! Once you join, you can click through the resources and decide what you need most right now. New resources are added regularly, and current resources are updated/refined regularly as well.
If I’m doing the monthly plan just to try it out, can I cancel?
If something changes and you need to cancel, email me before your next renewal and we'll help you. No drama, no weird hoops to jump through. In fact, you can also cancel yourself anytime you want from directly inside your lesson plan portal. I even have a video in the “Getting started” section of the login area that shows you how! Can I get help after I join?
Yes. This is the point of the Lesson Plan Lounge. You’re not just getting lesson files and being left on your own. You get support through members-only planning sessions, community/support options, and personalized help from a real person (me!) when you need it. I’m highly approachable, and all you have to do is ask me anything here: [email protected].
Can’t I just use AI to create lessons?
Sure. Go for it. But AI-generated lessons still require you to review, revise, verify, organize, align, adapt, and decide whether the activity might actually work in your classroom. That to me sounds like the kind of curriculum spiral you’re trying to avoid.
The Lesson Plan Lounge is different because the lessons are already created, organized, tested, refined, and ready to teach. They’re tried, true, and tested across thousands of middle school ELA classrooms.
In fact, there might even be a human-made typo here and there because we’re HUMANS (not creepy bots). Or…Maybe I include typos every once in a while, just to help you keep your students on their toes😉

What if I don’t actually need a full lesson plan curriculum, but I still want to use some of this?
That works, too.
You don’t have to use the Lesson Plan Lounge from beginning to end for it to be wildly helpful. Some teachers use the full 6th, 7th, or 8th grade curriculum as-is. Others use it to fill gaps, supplement a mandated curriculum, support intervention or tutoring, grab sub plans, add extra grammar practice, find nonfiction articles, or pull in ready-to-teach lessons when their current curriculum is lacking.
In addition to the grade-level specific units organized by argument, narrative, fiction, poetry, expository, etc… You ALSO have a thoughtfully organized Bonus Resource Library with grab-n-go lessons for grades 6–8 which include stand-alone grammar mini-lessons, seasonal-themed lessons, sub plans, 100+ nonfiction articles, and other classroom-ready supports.
