Laura Kebart here, and I love assigning one article a week on Mondays so I -- and my students -- always know what's happening at the beginning of each week. Tying up loose ends from the week on Friday PLUS trying to make sure everything is ready for Monday takes a LOT of time mental energy!
Now couple all THAT 👆with the desire to celebrate the incredible achievements of people of color alllll year long (not just on "awareness" days here and there) which means needing to get super organized and intentional with what's happening in class.
I want my students to see themselves in people who look like them and to know that anything is possible in their own lives, too! I want my students to have positive examples of those who have come before so they can become their own heroes in their own life stories!
